Mom and John's visit!

Catherine left on Wed the 18th and Mom and John arrived Saturday the 21st. We picked them up from the airport and served up some taco salad (with Jesse's homemade chili!) when we got home.

Sunday morning dawned beautiful and sunny! Jesse and John went to the gym and then Mom and I went to Mass. We picked the men up and headed to Georgetown to meet up with Cate O'Gorman and her boyfriend Joe. We had a delightful meal at Cafe Bonaparte. After lunch we hopped on the Circulator. We got off at my school and walked down to the Lincoln Memorial. Mom and John looked at that while Jesse and I ran around in the drained Reflecting Pool. :) We were going to visit the FDR memorial but the sun was setting and the cold was coming in fast. So we walked over to the White House to see the kitchen garden. We also saw a really gaudy looking Christmas tree set up behind it...we were tired and cold, but still had an hour before our reservation at Founding Farmers. They took us early, thank goodness!! We had an amazing meal at the LEED certified restaurant (sustainable, eco-friendly, recyclers...).

Monday Jesse had to work, so Mom, John, and I took the bus and metro to my school. They got to tour the building I work in and meet some of my friends and professors. Then they went off to tour the National Archives while I was stuck studying, going to class, and making copies. :( They had a great time and I was at the bus stop to pick them up when they got home. :) We went to dinner with Mom's friend from Girl Scouts's husband. (Mom's friend passed away in January) We had a great time and he lives in the neighborhood right next to us! Isn't that a small world??!

Tuesday morning we went back into the city and I had to go to Physical Therapy. Mom and John went to the Library of Congress and lunched with John's friend's daughter who works for a Congressman. We met up and went shopping for Jesse's Christmas presents and had a mini-Christmas for him when he got home since he will be working here during the holiday while we are in CA. We had a delicious dinner and then watched some old home movies. :) Thanks Uncle Jim! We went to bed early since we all had travel plans the next day!!

It was an awesome visit! Can't wait for them to come back so we can do some more sightseeing!!
