there are many good and bad things going on at the moment.
pros:
1) school is so fun! my teacher is really cool and i'm doing well in my studies...mostly reviewing still.
2) i got an email from Peter at the WIC job and he said I'm a good candidate for the job and wants to visit when I get back!! he said he thought it would take about a year for me to become totally familiar with the WIC program, so that makes me think he wants to hire me and wants me to work there for awhile!!
3) the city of Antigua is very quaint and i feel comfortable here
4) i got to talk to mom and dad on my cell phone yesterday!
cons:
1) there is no real roof in my bedroom and it gets cold at night!
2) my cough persists and has made me sick =/
3) i have blisters from starting to wear these shoes again, and my hip hurts so i didn't climb the volcano today
4) my cell phone won't charge so i have to take it back to the store and see what's up
5) the streets are very uneven and cobblestone-y and it does not help my feet or hip!!
6) i miss home and haven't really made any friends yet except my fellow housemate who is leaving on saturday.
today nathan and i went to a museum of colonial art that was kinda cool. the building used to be the university, but it moved to guatemala city. after this internet stop we're going to walk around, possibly visit the famous arch of the city, and i need to do some errands. there is a cafe here that shows movies, so we might do that, too. tomorrow the school is offering a two hour bike tour of some coffee plants and the surrounding towns. i might do that, but i'm not sure. we'll see how i feel in the morning.
i'm doing well, but i do wish someone else would have come with me. i'm going to the beach this weekend with a girl from davis. should be fun!!

You're blogs are super fun to read, thanks for keeping us all updated on what you're doing! The weather looks lovely there - and if it makes you feel better it's been raining out here all week still, and I would LOVE to see sunshine like that! It is always hard to go somewhere alone, but at the same time incredibly rewarding!! You are amazing and brave and quite frankly, just fabulous so I am sure you will meet people in no time. As cliche' as this sounds, just enjoy this opportunity for what it is and what it can be. Other than that, Davis is not the same without you--everyone is walking around like zombies without their Alison fix. :) Miss you!

alison!!!!! i wish i would have been able to come with you...we would be tearing up the place!! i wish you the quickest recovery on your hip and blisters...you need a latin masseus! (totally spelt that wrong) the no roof situation doesn't not seem like a fun time but your room is at least a bright and cheerful color! oh...and why the heck did you put that picture of us as your default?! i know we're lovers...but i look insane!! miss you MUUUUUUUUUUCHO and can't wait for your next update! : )
Alison! I'm so jealous of you for many reasons which include: your too cool, you're traveling, you're a graduate AND you seem to be have amazing weather down there! I'm sorry that you're feeling a little lonely but I'm sure you'll make some friends in no time! I was just looking up WIC on the internet and that sounds amazing too!
