Yesterday morning we arrived at our new place at 9am and signed all the papers and everything. We were finished around 10:45 and headed over to Starbucks to get some caffeine and food. The storage unit arrived at noon and we began the slow process of unpacking in the heat and humidity at 12:30pm. During this process one of our neighbors, Muhammed from Morocco, got home and offered to help. He grabbed his 17 year old brother Abdullah and all of our stuff was up in our apartment by 1:30pm!!!! Can you believe it?!?! It was awesome. We want to thank them, but aren't sure how we should...any suggestions?
The rest of the day was full of unpacking, washing new kitchen stuff, and organizing. At 6:30pm we left and got dinner. We adventured over to Target and bought some lamps. We are going to buy a few more today. We also need to get a desk, another dresser (I am living out of a suitcase still), a bookshelf, a couch, and maybe a TV and TV stand. Thank goodness we got all those gift cards!!
The community seems nice and I think we will like it here. We have to go to the Metro and figure out our commuting and to the bank to combine our finances.
It will be a busy few days since I need to start focusing on school on Monday. Come visit us soon!! And when you do, we have a small favor to ask...we had to leave a bunch of stuff in Sacramento and Fresno. If and when you come visit, if you could bring something to us, we would greatly appreciate it. We'll be brining an extra suitcase to Katie's wedding and home for Christmas, but if you make it out here before then... :)
