thoughts from the garbage bin...

...so as I was walking back from the garbage bin I saw a plan circling to land at Reagan Airport (suuper close to our place) and it reminded me of one of the coolest things we saw on our trip out here. As we entered Chicago we saw a bunch of lights in the sky that we thought were towers since they were lined up. But then we realized they were all planes queued (love that word..such a weird spelling!) up to land!!! It was really neat at one point because they were lined up right above us...like they could have landed on the freeway if it was empty. :)

We had a nice time at Arlington. We saw all of the Kennedy graves, including Ted's. We waited for about 20 minutes to see that one. We also saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Very moving to be amongst the history of it all. We saw a great exhibit at the Women in Service Memorial. It was on WASPS (Women Airforce Service Pilots). They served at home so the men could fly in combat in WWII and then were disbanded and not recognized as military until the 1970s! Check out www.wingsacrossamerica.org for more information on this forgotten piece of history.

We bought some maps and a travel guide today so we are going to be prepared when you come visit!! We also just started a file with the brochures from the different tourist sites so we can provide you with information when you visit. We'll post pictures soon!!

Love, me.
